Shingo Yoshimoto

He started dancing at the Keiko Honda Ballet School when he was 10 years old. He became the first Japanese to enter the National de Paris Opera Ballet School .He has a reputation as a dancer who has an ability to deliver pureness and toughness. Besides performing in the dance programs, he has been active in various stages beyond his genre.

In 1995, he entered the National de Paris Opera Ballet School as the first Japanese male dancer. He performed in “Defile”at the L’ Opera de Paris. In 1998, he got a scholarship award at the Jackson International Ballet Competition and also he took first prize in the male junior category of the 18th Bulgaria Varna International Ballet Competition. He moved to the United States in 1999 and joined the Cleveland San Jose Ballet Company as the principal. He was active as a soloist at the Huston Ballet Company from 2004, and he performed in “Onegin”by Cranko, “Theme and Variationas” by Balanchine, “Ballet Concert” by Robbins, “Forgotten Land” by Kylian, and many other programs that were choreographed by M. Morris, H.V. Mane and S. Welsh. He returned to Japan in 2007. He performed the role of a soldier in the 2010 season Stravinsky’s Evening program, “The Soldier’s Tale” by Motoko Hirayama. In February 2011, he performed in “GQ ~Gentleman Quality~” with the greatest of all dancers in Japan.
